So you finally gotten at least 10 heroes and rushed up all the way to Level 30 and above so you can play Ranked games in hopes of climbing the ladder up to the higher Ranks. Then comes the disappointment when you’re playing with other players who still don’t understand how the game works. There are many Hero League specific mistakes which are always being made, and jerks ruining the fun for everyone. From being unprepared to screwing up the drafting process, I’ve been through many games that make me just wish that there’s a team vote for “concede” button so I don’t have to withstand the long and drawn out defeat from the get go.
In every game in which you have to deal with players who consistently drag the team down, and your Ranking, you will see these players constantly making the same beginner mistakes over and over again. It’s frustrating to coordinate players who do not know what they are not meant to do and what they are supposed to do. Too often do I have to be a damned broken-tape recorder saying the same thing over and over again to try and drill into their thick skulls, and cross my fingers hoping that they will listen. In Quick match, it’s somewhat forgivable because that’s where there are lots of beginner players. However, there should be no excuse for making these beginner mistakes in Hero league, because by the time you are able to play ranked, you should have at least a basic understanding of how the game works.
Heroes of the Storm is enjoyed by many, however everyday there’s always that one player who ruins your entire experience. If you’ve ever played any 1v1 competitive online game, there’s a fair number of players who really like giving others a hard time and you don’t really have to care because they’re simply your opponent. In Heroes of the Storm however, if there’s at least one player who doesn’t cooperate, the game will head straight south. Players like these don’t understand the gravity of their inappropriate behaviour and games that could’ve been possible to win simply become grinds to see how quickly your team loses. Does it really have to be that way? How can we best deal with problem childs and toxic players?
Heroes of the Storm is a MOBA developed by Blizzard Entertainment and way back in the day it was developed mod for StarCraft II. There has been a lot of controversy around this game, and namely the fact that many of the traditional game mechanics in other MOBA type games have been removed and replaced completely. Like many others, I was appalled by these design decisions, however as I followed the development of the game I soon questioned whether the game was really all that horrible as the players of other MOBAs say it is. Is Heroes of the Storm really that terrible or is it just an entirely new ball game?
